Tord Boontje

In 2002, Dutch product designer Tord Boontje created the Blossom Light for the Swarovski Crystal Palace project. Working with this theme he has ventured into jewellery with ATELIER SWAROVSKI for AW08. The characteristically romantic Blossom Lace piece, which comes in jet with jet hematite, or in a range of pink crystals, is a versatile long strand of flowers to be worn as a necklace, bracelet or woven through the hair.

Tord Boontje says: “My idea for Blossom Lace was to create a crystal jewellery piece that you can very playfully use in your own way. As it is like a long flower string, you can wear it around the neck, arm or hand or weave it through your hair, like a 15th century Guirlanda. Blossom Lace shows how crystal is a material that invites imagination, play and pleasure.”
