Newly appointed Creative Director of Halston and Winner of Best New Designer Award in 2006, British designer Marios Schwab creates two collections for Atelier Swarovski Autumn/Winter 10. Modern silhouettes are combined with traditional techniques in his Ready-to-Wear, and this synthesis is reflected in his structured and sculptural approach to jewellery design. The Pearl collection features organic shaped pearl earrings, necklaces, armlets and rings set with delicate Cubic Zirconia stones to follow the curves of the female figure. The Floating Stones collection celebrates crystal in its original form, with Tanzanite, Rose and Black Diamond crystals that appear to hover across the body as if held together by an invisible force.
Pearl Collection
“The settings of these pieces take classic pearl jewellery out of its original context, and create sinuous lines which follow the contours of a woman's face. I liked the idea of taking something so quintessentially staid and preppy and giving it a modern, arresting twist.”
Floating Stones Collection
“I was inspired by the fragmented texture of Byzantine mosaics to combine crystals of different sizes and shades to create a minimal, luminous, effect. In conjunction with Atelier Swarovski I created settings that made the pieces appear to float invisibly in place, giving the wearer an ultra glamorous, mesmerising look.”
