Lesley Vik Waddell’s extensive design background includes working for Vivienne Westwood, Donna Karan, Christian Dior and Cartier. Educated in England and a jewellery design graduate, Vik Waddell produced her premier jewellery collection which was bought in its entirety by Harrods and Erickson Beamon. This has since developed into a successful collection selling in over 40 stores worldwide which runs alongside her couture line of private commissions in addition to her own label, ‘Vik’. She currently lives in Switzerland.
Inspired by 1950’s glamour, Lesley Vik Waddell’s Cascade Collection for Atelier Swarovski denotes style and elegance through the imagery and movement of the Swarovski crystals. Water provided Lesley with a wonderful starting point, a key element in both nature and in crystal. She combines architectural crystals and chandelier components with twisted silk cords. Silver shade crystals are strung onto a glossy grey cord, in contrast to the black cord that is fringed and knotted with Jet beads. The necklaces, bracelets, Lariats and rings form a versatile collection of pieces that can be worn in a variety of ways.
“The collection as suggested in the name was inspired by the beauty and power of water cascading through nature, carving a path in the most organic way. Beauty is something we humans crave for, to be inspired by the sublime. I have also always found fairy tales a rich source of inspiration. The fight between good versus evil. dark and light. The duality of life mixed with magic and endless possibilities. Opulent rainfalls of brilliant glittering crystals combined with the sensual feeling of silk cord provide an exciting and luxurious way to step into the glamour of the 1950’s. Created for women with the confidence and power only possible in the 21st century”
