A designer with a rich history of jewellery making, from designing collections at Erickson Beamon to pieces for Nicole Farhi’s runway collection, Kirt Holmes‘ collection for Atelier Swarovski is destined for the red carpet. Woven crystal beads lend structure and sophistication to hair baskets and bands, entwined with crystal pearls in decorative patterns, and secured with a hair pick ending in a larger crystal pearl. The collection is complete with necklaces and bracelets that incoporate Kirts‘ signature beading technique into geometric shapes. Evocative of latticework and tracery, the pieces are made up in metallic colours with the addition of Rose and Pacific Opal especially for the awards season.
“The starting point when working with any Swarovski product is the crystal itself, it's a joy to work with, it's the kind of product that reminds me why I am a jewellery designer. Netting and containment inspired me for this collection, I took the simplicity of the beads and wanted to make something unexpected, something structured, we're so used to seeing threaded beads, I wanted to work mathematically using the shapes and sizes of the crystal to dictate the shapes and curves created. These shapes become, to my eye, a natural occurrence.”
