Ye Mingzi

Autumn/Winter 2014

Best known for her beautiful bridal gowns and evening-wear, Chinese fashion designer Ye Mingzi takes her inspiration from both traditional Chinese and western aesthetics. Her Autumn/Winter 2014 collection for Atelier Swarovski is designed with the modern bride and groom in mind but is based on the ancient and ethereally beautiful pattern of the Flower of Life. Rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, cufflinks and tiara make up the collection, in which delicate lattices of gold and silver are set with tiny, circular sparkling crystals. The pieces are available in gold, silver or rose gold settings.

"Swarovski crystal is the perfect element to depict the Flower of Life."

— Ye Mingzi

For her Autumn/Winter 2016 collection available exclusively in Asia, Mingzi drew her inspiration from nature’s creativity once again for ‘Elements of the Universe’. The ten-piece collection evolved from her previous ‘Flower of Life’ designs, with pieces were inspired by the geometry found in the fundamental building blocks of nature and the synchronicity between the five elements: fire, water, air, earth and energy.

Ye Mingzi was born in Beijing to a painter mother, Su Dandan, whose work inspired in Mingzi an early passion for art and beauty. She became one of the first students from Mainland China to enroll at Central Saint Martins in 1999. She returned to Beijing following her graduation and set up Studio Regal where she creates clothes, jewelry, accessories and art. As well as creating her own designs, Mingzi has served as a judge on the Chinese version of Project Runway for four seasons and is the winner of numerous awards.
