Sandy Powell

Spring/Summer 2015

Three-time Academy Award winner Sandy Powell is one of the most celebrated and respected costume designers currently working in the industry. Powell designed the costumes for Kenneth Branagh lavish production of Cinderella, adorning the clothes, hair and make-up of the cast with 1.7 million precision cut Swarovski crystals.

"Swarovski crystals are a key creative ingredient to add light, depth and color to my costumes."

— Sandy Powell

Powell’s eight-piece Tremaine collection for Atelier Swarovski features a bold, Art Deco-style necklace and earrings, which are eye-catching pieces for the evening, as well as bracelets and rings that are perfectly feminine and luxurious daywear options. Her vintage jewelry designs were informed by the style of 1940s movie stars such as Joan Crawford.

A regular collaborator with Martin Scorsese, she has also worked on numerous costume dramas, including Shakespeare in Love and The Young Victoria for which she won two of her Academy Awards and a BAFTA. In addition to the Tremaine collection for Atelier Swarovski, she has created a Cinderella collection for Swarovski’s main line, paying tribute to one of Disney’s most iconic princesses.
