One of fashion’s leading young talents, Erdem Moralioglu is known for his feminine, often floral, take on womenswear. His collection for Atelier Swarovski, created in line with his Spring/Summer 2014 show, features bright silk scarves embroidered with Swarovski crystals interspersed with creamy crystal pearls. Saturated colors blend seamlessly together on the scarves, as though painted by watercolors. Erdem was initially inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream as directed by Peter Brooks in the 1970s, and the film’s surreal contrasts find their way into the balance of delicate silk and bold, sparkling crystals in the scarves.
"Crystal adds a beautiful weight to a garment."
Erdem trained first in Canada then in London at the Royal College of Art and worked alongside Vivienne Westwood and Diane Von Furstenberg before setting up his own label. In 2007, after four successful shows at London Fashion Week, he was awarded the Swarovski British Fashion Council Fashion Enterprise Award as well as the Fashion Fringe Award in recognition of his talents. His signature style fuses sharp tailoring and romantic appeal for a modern take on feminine luxury.
