beginning_text - Known for his playful, geometric approach to design, Norwegian-born Kim Thomé graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2012 and runs his studio from East London. His work balances between installation and object, and mixes graphic elements and optical play to explore reflection, geometry and color. Thomé unveiled ‘Zotem,’ his first collaboration with Swarovski, at London’s V&A museum. The sculpture was 18 meters high, embedded with more than 600 bespoke crystals, and was later shown at Design Shanghai.

Their furniture, products and installations have attracted commissions for Cappellini, Established & Sons, and Stella McCartney among others. This is their first collaboration with Swarovski.

The offerings range from pieces which embrace Swarovski crystal as a design medium in its own right to objets d’art which juxtapose crystal with other materials such as resin, metals, marble and Corian. For 2017, the collections available employ technologies developed by Swarovski’s experts in conjunction with the exuberant intelligence and originality of the industry’s greatest minds. German-Icelandic duo Studio Brynjar and Veronika have created a series of colorful, abstract paperweights for their collection based on their 2016 Designers of the Future installation. This reimagining of traditionally simple home décor is also articulated within NYC architect Andre Kikoski’s crystalline boxes, and candleholders, in addition to American interiors icon Barbara Barry’s multi-purpose vases and candleholders. Aldo Bakker’s range of playful crystal objects include playful bottle stoppers and paperweight magnifiers while Tomás Alonso’s signature color play is so inventively reimagined in a collection of contemporary trays.

Swarovski has been a champion of design, both in the form of installations, sculptures and artistic objects for nearly a century, as well as the more ephemeral decorative arts. The brand’s ultimate expression—Atelier Swarovski—launched in 2007 with a fashion jewelry line. New home collections are currently available for purchase.

beginning_text - Design duo Patrik Fredrikson and Ian Stallard have been at the forefront of British avant-garde design since they began collaborating in 1995. Their Space Flower jewelry collection for Atelier Swarovski uses the simple contrast of sharp Swarovski crystals and soft metal domes to accentuate the beauty of the crystals and magnify the light they reflect. With a suitably restrained color palette, these pieces work either alone or grouped together in bouquets, and are at once elegantly feminine and strikingly contemporary. Fredrikson Stallard’s latest jewelry collection with Atelier Swarovski, Armory, features large, smoky toned crystal suspended within a metal web, at once gladiatorial and fiercely feminine.

Stallard’s pieces have been acquired by institutions such as Victoria and Albert Museum, and shown at the Design Museum in London, MOMA and the Museum of Art and Design in New York.

ending_text - 'Glaciarium,' Fredrikson Stallard’s first collection for Atelier Swarovski Home presents a series of centerpieces inspired by the naked form of untouched, raw crystal. Each piece is cast in crystal and then faceting is applied to certain sections, combining precision cutting with the material’s natural structures and surface.

Each creation brings attention to the pure vision behind the design, a balance of functional and beautiful.

middle_text - Born in the Netherlands in 1971 to Dutch designers Gija Bakker and Emmy Van Leersum, Bakker grew up in an environment infused with a strong aesthetic sensibility. Deciding against traditional education and instead following his own path, he was first trained as a silversmith working on commission. Bakker set up his own studio in 1994, later moving into furniture and product design. Bakker is a professor at the Design Academy at Eindhoven in the Netherlands. This is his first collaboration with Swarovski.

ending_text - Aldo Bakker’s newest collection, Facet, follows inspirations conjured up from the artist’s first collaboration with Atelier Swarovski Home. Multi-faceted bottle stoppers, radiant paperweight lenses, and playful handheld magnifiers complete a series of brilliant objet d’ arts which play on the craftsman’s infatuation with purity of form and composition.

‘Crystal Vase’, Bakker’s debut collection from 2016, presented 3 vases in different sizes, constructed in faceted, graphic form with crystal, marble, and pink onyx for a fascinating play of light. Although functional, the design is abstract, allowing the user to feel and play with the way one element fits with another.

This season is one of many of firsts, as its Kotur’s inaugural foray into fashion jewelry and Atelier Swarovski’s first use of wood as a medium. She started her career as a designer at Ralph Lauren and later joined GAP for the launch of Old Navy.

Visitors journeyed through the world of Atelier Swarovski Home at Palazzo Cagnola in Brera, Milan’s design district, via a series of mirror installations which enhanced the original beauty of the late neo-classical architecture while creating a subtle backdrop for the objects. Crystalline forms phrased as vases, centerpieces, and objets d’art culminated in a debut of a collection whose ultimate purpose is to reimagine home décor.

middle_text - From the late Zaha Hadid to Tord Boontje, Atelier Swarovski Home works directly with designers to translate its forward-thinking design DNA and technical expertise into collections of covetable Swarovski crystal table top objects and home accessories. The offerings range from pieces which embrace Swarovski crystal as a design medium in its own right to objets d’art which juxtapose crystal with other materials such as resin, metals, marble and Corian. Atelier Swarovski Home is a vivid reminder of the infinite creative possibilities of crystal in design —and leverages the company’s most recent innovations, developed by Swarovski’s experts, including crystal printing and the revolutionary Wave Cut technique.

ending_text - Swarovski has been a champion of design, both in the form of installations, sculptures and artistic objects for nearly a century, as well as the more ephemeral decorative arts. The brand’s ultimate expression—Atelier Swarovski—launched in 2007 with a fashion jewelry line. The new Atelier Swarovski Home collections will be available for purchase today.

title_sub - ARCHITECTURE & THE CITY
beginning_text - Angled, articulate and tectonic, American architect Daniel Libeskind’s buildings act as a large scale invocation of cultural memory. Coming to prominence with his poignant design for the Jewish Museum in Berlin, the overarching theme in his built works is memorializing and remembrance. A true citizen of the world, Libeskind has moved between countries eighteen times. In 2003, his practice Studio Libeskind won the competition to rebuild the World Trade Center in New York. This is his first collaboration with Swarovski.

middle_text - For ‘Architecture & the City’, Daniel Libeskind presents a championship-size chess set, whose pieces celebrate several of Libeskind’s most iconic buildings. With a board showing maps of Milan and New York (the two cities where he lives and works), the set uses materials from the worlds of construction – concrete and marble – as well as luxury: silver from Wiener Silber Manufactur and Swarovski crystal. The two kings are represented by the Freedom Tower in New York City.

title_sub - Spring/Summer 2010 | Crista
beginning_text - At the crux of architecture, design, and the avant-garde is the internationally recognized architect Zaha Hadid. Known for her technical prowess as well as her steadfast, pioneering approach to female developed architecture, the late Zaha Hadid was a designer whose career was forged from vision and unmatched talent. Credited with having developed her own architectural language, her signature fluid, organic shapes are visible in her Glace collection for Atelier Swarovski. Evocative, molten shapes ooze slowly over the skin in black, white and flame tones. Deep within each piece are set tiny blue, white and red crystals that glisten like bubbles below the surface, enhancing the organic designs.
slogan - "I wanted the piece to convey Swarovski’s ethos not just through its design, but through materiality"

middle_text - Founder of her eponymous company Zaha Hadid Architects, her work spanned the interrelated fields of urbanism, architecture and design. Ranging from furniture to city planning, Hadid’s aesthetic encompassed all scales of design with a nod towards the warped, anti-gravitational space of Russian avant-garde painting and sculpture. A lifelong innovator and enthusiast for new technologies, her collaborations with Swarovski date back to 2007, with projects ranging from spiralling light installations (Crystal Palace, Salone del Mobile 2008) to the sculptural jewelry collection ‘Glace’ (Atelier Swarovski 2010).

ending_text - For her collaboration with Atelier Swarovski Home, ‘Crista’, Zaha Hadid debuted a collection of imposing centerpieces in crystal and metal. Inspired by the process crystallization which occurs in nature, the design is also notable for its use of Swarovski’s new Wave Cut technology, which launches in 2016.

THE KEY INGREDIENT: SWAROVSKI CRYSTAL

Beauty, as the saying goes, is in the eye of the beholder. Above and beyond subjective perception, the quality and value of crystal can be determined by the criteria outlined below in the 5 C’s of Swarovski Crystal.
CUT
The brilliance of the crystal is determined by the cut – the greater the precision, the more exact the faceting, the more prismatic the effect of the crystal and the greater the brilliance in the crystal’s refraction.
CLARITY
The clearer the crystal is from inclusions such as cloudy spots, streaks and bubbles, the more flawless the crystal clarity and the more brilliant the properties.
COLOR
Perfect crystals are characterized by intensity and fidelity to tone, independent of size and cut. When reflecting light, a crystal with great color gives rise to a fiery play of tones which reveal its hidden spectrum.
CONTOUR
Meticulous quality control in Swarovski’s manufacturing process ensures perfectly shaped, flawlessly faceted crystals.
CARE
From the sustainable and conscious handling of business to the environmental practices in selecting and composing of crystal ingredients, care is in every part of Swarovski’s crystal making process.

beginning_text - Self-taught creator of luxury costume jewelry, renegade designer Rodrigo Otazu displays his creativity and joie de vivre in his 2011 collection for Atelier Swarovski, with designs that develop a new cut only to turn the crystals upside down. The side normally hidden is revealed for this collection, creating startling, sculptural pieces, with a delightful and surprising experimental edge. Referencing the shapes of tribal jewelry, the pieces remain modern through the innovative use of crystal in clear shades. The gold, silver and gunmetal tone settings have a luxurious yet minimalist appeal and allow the sparkle of the crystals to take center stage.

He first made waves in the fashion world when his pearl necklaces caught the eye of a Vogue fashion editor. In 1997 he set up his own label, Otazu, in the Netherlands and has been developing both his couture and ready to wear lines ever since. He relishes the collaborative process and has worked with Christian Lacroix, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Viktor&Rolf among others.

beginning_text - When one of the most influential, revolutionary and mysterious fashion houses joined forces with Atelier Swarovski, the result was a groundbreaking development in jewelry: the crystal fusion technique which merges crystal and resin into a seamless whole. The elemental Crystalactite collection of white resin and clear crystal is composed of asymmetrical shapes that are at once deeply natural and daringly futuristic. Inspired by stalactites and featuring a cuff, a pendant and a bracelet, this collection spotlights the innovation of the design and the depth of technical skill used to create the jewelry.

The eponymous founder made waves with his first collection in 1989, challenging ideas of what luxury could be and inaugurating the grunge movement. Rejecting mass media and the cult of personality, he has rarely been photographed or interviewed. As the designer that took the couture scene by storm through his infamous, provocative looks on the likes of Madonna, he can trace his mastery and skill sets to his time at legendary French classic couturier Pierre Cardin. From the beginning of his career, Jean Paul Gaultier wanted to show that beauty comes in many forms and that even the simplest item, like a tin can—first a bracelet and later the packaging for his hugely successful perfume—can be transformed into a stunning, coveted object.

middle_text - A personal homage to the power of opposites, Gaultier’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection for Atelier Swarovski, Reverse, plays with the concept of ‘perfect imperfection’ in a series of asymmetric styles using the new Kaputt crystal. Several pieces can be reversed, switched by the wearer according to mood. Hand finished in Italy, the glamorous twelve-piece collection that explores the creative potential of crystal in daring styles plated in 24 carat gold. Due to popular demand, Gaultier re-launched Reverse for Autumn/Winter 2016, featuring collection favorites plated in a sleek ruthenium.

ending_text - After working at Esterel, Patou and again at Cardin, Jean Paul Gaultier decided to start his own fashion house and staged his first show in Paris in 1976. Critical and commercial success followed quickly, and by the early eighties he was one of the worlds most talked about young designers. In 1997 Gaultier launched his haute couture collection, ‘Gaultier Paris,’ and from 2004 to 2011, Gaultier was the designer for Hermès womenswear. Gaultier career stretches to encompass the fields of dance, music and cinema. His costumes for Madonna’s ‘Blond Ambition’ tour have left an indelible imprint on popular culture. A man without parallel, Gaultier continues to be fashion’s go-to rebel for reinvention.

beginning_text - Best known for her beautiful bridal gowns and evening-wear, Chinese fashion designer Ye Mingzi takes her inspiration from both traditional Chinese and western aesthetics. Her Autumn/Winter 2014 collection for Atelier Swarovski is designed with the modern bride and groom in mind but is based on the ancient and ethereally beautiful pattern of the Flower of Life. Rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, cufflinks and tiara make up the collection, in which delicate lattices of gold and silver are set with tiny, circular sparkling crystals. The pieces are available in gold, silver or rose gold settings.

middle_text - For her Autumn/Winter 2016 collection available exclusively in Asia, Mingzi drew her inspiration from nature’s creativity once again for ‘Elements of the Universe’. The ten-piece collection evolved from her previous ‘Flower of Life’ designs, with pieces were inspired by the geometry found in the fundamental building blocks of nature and the synchronicity between the five elements: fire, water, air, earth and energy.

She became one of the first students from Mainland China to enroll at Central Saint Martins in 1999. The designer’s two collections with Atelier Swarovski are strikingly different, one a subtle play on textures, the other infused with shocking color, yet both share the same fascination with the perfect line.

middle_text - The sharp lines and architecturally-inspired curves of the Spring/Summer 2010 collection are softened by the leather finish, textured to resemble snake skin, and edged with tiny pavé crystals for subtle, serpentine shimmer. Silver metalwork is set with pacific opal crystals, gold with light Colorado topaz and gunmetal with jet colored crystals. The 2013 collection retains the flowing lines but adds outsized creamy crystal pearls and flashes of hot pink and turquoise. The result is a more overtly feminine collection which curves naturally around the body.
video_url -
ending_text - A graduate of Central Saint Martins and Cordwainers, Nicholas Kirkwood set up his eponymous label in 2005 and won the Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent in 2008. Innovation remains at the heart of his aesthetic—he pioneers the use of unusual skins such as alligator skin in suede, shaved stingray and rubberized leather and eschews overt decoration to focus on the shape and fit of the shoes. He collaborated with Chloé on the house’s Autumn/Winter 2007 collection and has created shoes for the runway shows of Rodarte, Peter Pilotto and Erdem.

Transparent linear designs maximize the reflection of light from the crystals and highlight their innate brilliance. Inspired by the breath-taking New York skyline and the Art Deco movement, the sharp lines of the square and baguette shaped crystals create an urban and sophisticated look, while the two color palettes reflect different sides of the city. Tonal crystal embodies the classic elegance of the Upper East Side in champagne, amber and anthracite shades offset by silvery palladium. Multicolor crystal brings to life a New York thunderstorm, glowing with neon and lit by flashes of lightning in midnight blues, electric purples and emerald greens set in ruthenium toned metal.

beginning_text - When Daniel Swarovski first introduced his crystal-cutting machine in the nineteenth century, couturiers quickly caught on to the array of possibilities that glittering crystals could afford them. Charles Frederic Worth and Jeanne Paquin were the first to embroider their gowns with Swarovski crystals and they soon became a prized material in Parisian ateliers. Following a century-long tradition of close collaboration with some of the top houses of couture—including Chanel, Schiaparelli and Christian Dior—Atelier Swarovski was born out of Swarovski’s rich legacy and a desire to explore the next frontier of crystal-couture jewelry.
slogan - "Swarovski has been collaborating with couture houses such as Chanel and Dior since the early 1900s. It is amazing to bring to life the creative ideas of today’s top designers."

Atelier Swarovski has partnered with many young designers who have gone on to become globally recognized such as Erdem Moralioglu, Joseph Altuzzara and Prabal Gurung. Two new designers are chosen each season, launching their collections in tandem with the fashion world’s Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter calendar.
video_url -
ending_text - In 2014, Atelier Swarovski launched the in-house designed Core Collection, which aims to further showcase the expressive capabilities of crystal as a creative medium. The collection evolves every season and is inspired by the element of water. Continuing Swarovski’s longstanding history of innovation and collaborating with the finest creators in design, art and fashion, Atelier Swarovski offers creators a unique platform to craft special pieces that combine mastery, craftsmanship and crystal with their unique vision.

Following the success of Atelier Swarovski’s jewelry collections, Atelier Swarovski Home was launched in 2016. Created in partnership with the world’s leading design luminaries in art, architecture and design, the Swarovski crystal objects redefine home décor by rendering artistic and conceptual vision in a functional and decorative form.

title_sub - Spring/Summer 2009
beginning_text - Erickson Beamon, comprised of designers Karen Erickson and Vicki Sarge, bring over thirty years of combined experience designing jewelry to their Omniscient collection for Atelier Swarovski. Inspired by traditional beaded African Maasai jewelry, the designers reinvented the ancient designs using Swarovski crystals. Comprised of two halves, a narrative as much as a collection, designs are at play with metaphors and roles within duality. The collection is split between the pale, reflective shades of the Angel pieces with their powder green and pacific opal crystals, and the darker tones of their Demon counterparts, which use jet and hematite.
slogan - "Combining crystals with Maasai concepts is a very powerful statement."

middle_text - When they first strung beads and crystals onto suede to create makeshift jewelry for a fashion show, Karen & Eric Erickson could not have imagined that they were taking their first steps to becoming internationally celebrated jewelry designers. Yet their necklaces were a sensation and over the years the duo have worked with houses such as Chanel, Givenchy and Dior to create jewelry for the catwalk. Their continuing success has taken them to London where, with the help of Vicki Sarge, the Erickson Beamon retail store bring their wildest fantasies to jeweled life.

Saturated colors blend seamlessly together on the scarves, as though painted by watercolors. Featuring an oversized version of the classic diamond ring, also reworked as a cuff, this collection plays with proportion, materials and expectations to create beautiful and subtly surprising jewelry.

ending_text - Pippa Small’s career began as a researcher for human rights organizations, working with NGOs. She used the contacts made during this period to set up fair trade design projects in the communities she had worked with, researching traditional designs, sourcing local materials and finding new ways for people to use skills handed down for generations. The designer also worked as a consultant for fashion houses such as Gucci, Chloé and Nicole Farhi. Inspired by natural forms and ancient design, her work uses uncut gems and unusual stones to create organic pieces steeped in heritage. beginning_text - Design duo Patrik Fredrikson and Ian Stallard have been at the forefront of British avant-garde design since they began collaborating in 1995. Fredrikson Stallard's latest jewelry collection with Atelier Swarovski, Armory, features large, smoky toned crystal suspended within a metal web, at once gladiatorial and fiercely feminine.

Stallard's pieces have been acquired by institutions such as Victoria and Albert Museum, and shown at the Design Museum in London, MOMA and the Museum of Art and Design in New York.
