Voted Best New Designer at the 2006 British Fashion Awards, Marios Schwab, the young Greek-Austrian designer, who studied in Germany, has joined ATELIER SWAROVSKI this season, adapting the arresting pearl body frames he sent down the catwalk as part of his distinctive Spring/Summer 08 collection. For ATELIER SWAROVSKI he has created two variations of his crystal pearl body harnesses, in Swarovski’s white and Mystic Black crystal pearls, and two hair ornaments, also in white and black, transferring his lustrous skeletal structures to the head, a focal point for jewels this season.
“My research began with a number of entirely feminine images and influences. I wanted to team these ideas with something else equally feminine. I was instantly drawn to the Swarovski crystal pearls. I love the idea of using classical elements but presenting them out of context, with a torn-down glamour.”
