CHRISTOPHER KANE
For his fifth ATELIER SWAROVSKI collection, the Scottish-born designer translates influences from the Pharonic middle-east into a traditionally Western composition. Christopher Kane creates majestic pieces by setting crystals into gunmetal filigrees encasing the charmed scarab beetle. The pieces come alive with a simple and elegant colour scheme of jet and crystal stones, combined with iridescent shades of green vitrail medium to reflect the shimmering insect wings.
“I thought it would be really beautiful to combine Swarovski crystal with these resin scarabs to create regal-like jewellery, I have used Swarovski’s large fancy stones with antique-like settings to give a regal luxurious feel to the collection.
In ancient Egypt the scarabs were revered as sacred and very good fortune, they were a symbol of creation, resurrection and everlasting life. I am so pleased with the results and hope they bring some good fortune!”
